New Mobile Phone Technology Provides A 24/7 Key To Your Home!

Today's modern cell phones offer users a myriad of fun and useful applications from exotic ring tones to GPS travel mapping. One not-so-obvious feature that we're going to explore here is the ability of your mobile phone to access, monitor, and control your home with the press of a button.

For several years now, high-end "smart-home" automation systems have been accessible via the internet so that home owners could access and, in some cases, control key functions at home with the use of a PC or laptop computer.

Move ahead to the present, with the recent wave of high tech PC-based phones such as the Blackberry or Apple I-Phone, the home control functions that were previously "accessible" are now,literally,"in the palm of your hand" offering seamless communications with an ever increasing array of products.

Home automation technology including indoor and outdoor lighting, heating, air conditioning, AV, and security are among the applications easily accessed and controlled by phone.  In addition, several of these systems now have the ability of two-way communication so that they may contact the owner by phone with updates and new information.

Archerfish, one of the newer products on the market is an expandable video monitoring system that utilizes numerous cameras located in key areas of a home or business.  In addition to providing continuous access to video images of on-going activity, the system also has the ability to contact the owner when certain activities have been completed.  The system may alert the owner when the kids come home from school or when a package has been delivered to the business.

At the upper end of the market, Crestron, a leader in home automation, offers an "open architecture" approach to automation whereby the automated commands and the equipment to be controlled is determined by custom programs written by professional Crestron technicians. The result of this system is that virtually any electronic product can be controlled to do anything...any time.  As you may have already guessed, today's modern phones
